As you learn to pray, you want to get to know the Holy Spirit. Not only is He a praying Spirit, He is a loving Spirit who loves to activate God’s love in us. When the Apostle Paul appealed to the saints in Rome, he relied not simply in his own love, but the love of the Holy Spirit. Read More

Praying Spirit
by Jon Mitchell on January 23rd, 2021
When the Apostle Paul exhorted the believers in the city of Ephesus to pray in the Spirit on all occasions, he opened the door to the them to enter a whole new level of prayer that depended not on their own ability to pray, but on the ability of the Holy Spirit. At any moment, the Holy Spirit has access to every form of prayer imaginable. The Holy Spirit knows exactly what kind of prayer we need at every moment. Read More

Holy Trembling
by Jon Mitchell on January 21st, 2021
If all the unused Bibles were picked up at one time, it would cause a dust storm so severe that it would eclipse the sun! Why is it that so many Christians are biblically illiterate? Could it be that we have exchanged reading our Bibles toward an encounter with God and have settled for simply checking off Bible reading on our to-do list? Read More

Mouth-to-Mouth Resuscitation
by Jon Mitchell on January 18th, 2021
If you want a word from God, read the Bible. We are rapidly becoming a generation in danger of becoming so focused on prophetic Words from God that we are in danger of neglecting Scripture. While not every word from God comes from the Bible, every word of the Bible comes from God. Let’s not forget it. As we open ourselves to the revelatory ministry of the Holy Spirit today, we want to wholeheartedly embrace the primary word of the Holy Spirit in Scripture. Read More

Encountering Victory
by Jon Mitchell on January 16th, 2021
Humility attracts the presence of God the way a low pressure zone attracts a storm. Unfortunately, the opposite is also true—pride repels the presence of God the way a high atmospheric pressure will repel a storm center. It is no wonder God says that He opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble (see James 4:6). Read More

Total Forgiveness
by Jon Mitchell on January 15th, 2021
The devil will tell you unforgiveness, resentment, retaliation is the greatest power on earth. He is a liar. The greatest power on earth is forgiveness. The only Person who could ever effectively lead us in a forgiveness revolution was God Himself, and He does it every day in the Person of Christ. Read More

Mouth on Fire
by Jon Mitchell on January 14th, 2021
On this day, January 14, in the year of our Lord 1739, George Whitfield, one of the greatest preachers who ever lived, was ordained. He spent the day before his ordination in prayer and fasting, praying late into the evening. On the Sunday morning of his ordination, he rose early and prayed, “When I went up to the altar, I could think of nothing but Samuel standing as a little child before the Lord… when the Bishop laid his hand upon my head, my heart was melted down, and I offered my whole spirit, soul, and body in the service of God’s sanctuary! I read the gospel, at the Bishop’s command, with power.” From that day forward, George Whitfield ministered with unusual anointing. Read More

Peel the Banana
by Jon Mitchell on January 13th, 2021
A banana is sweet, moist and nutritious. The banana peel, on the other hand is bitter, dry and stringy. Let’s face it, the only problem with the Lord’s prayer is that we have made it religious when God wants it to be relational. Perhaps it is time for you to take the banana peel off of the Lord’s prayer—the stigma of using it as a religious mantra or a mindless, empty prayer. If the Lord’s prayer has become tasteless or even bitter for you, perhaps you have been biting into the religious banana peel. It may be time to return to the Lord’s prayer and use it as a Christ-encountering pattern, the way it was intended. Read More

Go High to Go Deep
by Jon Mitchell on January 11th, 2021
As you follow the Lord’s prayer pattern today, use His Name to boldly declare the supremacy of Christ. Clear the atmosphere of static and interference. In the final months of Bill Bright’s life, Henry Blackabee asked Dr. Bright in an interview, what burden he had for the church. Bill Bright had founded Campus Crusade for Christ, the largest missions organization in the world, and without hesitation, he said with confidence, “The Name—the church needs to rediscover the power of God’s Name.” Read More

Encountering Christ in His Prayer
by Jon Mitchell on January 10th, 2021
Every part of the Lord’s prayer pattern is intended to be Christ-encountering. As we will discover over the next seven days, when Jesus gave His prayer pattern, He was not providing us with a religious instrument. He was imparting to us a means of encountering the manifest presence of Christ every day. Read More

People often ask, “How can I determine how long I should fast?” The answer is easy—how hungry are you? If you have a one day hunger for God, then fast one day. If you have a seven day hunger for God, then fast seven days. If you have a twenty-one day hunger for God, then fast twenty-one days. Let’s not make it too complicated. Read More

Korea on Fire
by Jon Mitchell on January 6th, 2021
This day, January 6, in the year of our Lord 1907, marks the beginning of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Korea. The Presbyterian church in Korea had been experiencing unusual hunger for God for months prior. People loved reading God’s Word and spending extraordinary time in prayer. On this day, prayers turned to confession of sin, open repentance, deep sorrow, loud weeping, and an overwhelming sense of repentance. Fifteen hundred people erupted simultaneously in audible prayer. “It seemed as if the roof was lifted from the building and the Spirit of God came down from Heaven in a mighty avalanche of power upon us. I fell…and wept and prayed as I had never prayed before…” Some threw themselves their full length upon the floor; hundreds stood with arms outstretched to Heaven. Each man forgot the other. Each was face to face with God. “I can hear yet that fearful sound of hundreds of men pleading with God for life, for mercy.” Read More

Why Fast?
by Jon Mitchell on January 4th, 2021
In a day of golden arches and pizza palaces, fasting from food is certainly a form of rebellion against the status quo. While some enjoy it more than others, we all like to eat. To deny yourself the pleasure of eating solid food for a day, a week, or a month is counterintuitive. So why do it?Fasting is the fastest way to get something from God; that is to say, it is th...
