The Way
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6
Jesus didn't say, I will show you the way. He said, I am the way.
I am the way is a self-disclosure of Jesus to you.
I am the way is Jesus' invitation for you to encounter him in the ambiguities and mysteries of life.
I am the way is Jesus setting the record straight. He is not one of a dozen ways you can choose to go in your life. He's not even one of two options. Jesus is THE way, the one and only way.
And today he is inviting you into a deeper love relationship with him so that you can discover him to be the Way for you. The one and only Way.
I am the way is more than simply a promise of direction; it's a promise of intimacy.
What's better than someone giving you direction? Someone who gets in the car and rides with you--someone who doesn't just know the way, but someone who is the Way.
That's who Jesus is, and that's who he wants to be to you.
Lord Jesus, today I take you today as the Way. The only Way. Forgive me for expecting you to be a silent passenger, rather than the driver who takes the wheel.
