Not A Rabbit’s Foot
Not A Rabbit’s Foot
"On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’" Matthew 7:22
God's name is powerful--more powerful than you will ever realize--but his name is not a fetish, amulet, or good luck charm. You can't carry it in your pocket or tack it on the end of your prayer expecting to hit the jackpot. His name doesn't work that way.
Jesus gave one of his strictest warnings in relation to the mishandling of his name.
One day when you and I stand before the judgment seat of Christ, hundreds of thousands of people will be shocked to find out that all their prophesying, deliverance, and ministries were in reality devoid of God. They will be eternally removed from God's presence because they used the name without knowing the name.
They will hear some of the most chilling, gut-wrenching words they will ever hear, "I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness" (Matthew 7:23.)
Can you imagine!
Don't play with God's name; encounter it. Let his name encounter you. Let God use his name in you before you try using it for any other purpose. Let the power of God's name first change you.
God's name is not a rabbit's foot; God's name is an encounter with God.
Lord God Almighty, I repent of mishandling your name. Forgive me for trying to use your name, rather than first allowing you to use your name in me. Today I come under the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and I surrender to the name.
