Pray Like an Heir

Pray Like an Heir

"And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, 'Abba! Father!' So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God." Galatians 4:6-7

The difference between praying like a slave and praying like a son, is determined by the Name--the Name Abba.

When you pray Abba, you are staking a claim on everything in the Father's house. You recognize your identity as a legitimate son or daughter, and you claim all the rights and privileges you have to your birthright.

Don't miss the reminder, you are no longer a slave. We all need to hear it over and over again. There are times we all feel like slaves--destitute, abandoned, rejected, without honor or dignity. This was the condition we were born into as fallen people. The spirit of slavery is the spirit that ruled our lives until we were born again.

But in Christ, you are no longer a slave. You are a full-fledged child of God with all rights and privileges. And the key to your birthright is the name Abba Father.

Use it often. Use it freely. Use it now. Abba Father.

Abba Father, you are mine. I am yours. Abba Father, you define me. You free me. You restore me. You clothe me with dignity and honor.
