First Love
First Love
"In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us." 1 John 4:10
Happy Valentine's Day! Today is a perfect day to remind yourself that your love relationship with Christ is not based on who you are or what you do for God; it's based solely on what Christ has done for you. He loved you first.
More than a box of chocolates or a dozen red roses, God sent you his Son to prove his unstoppable love for you. And he doesn't want you to forget it.
As you celebrate love today, be sure to receive God's extravagant love for you in his son Jesus Christ.
Jesus is your Lover. Your lavish Lover. He pursued you and loved you first. He will run after you, run with you, love you first and love you last. He will love you regardless of any sins and shortcomings. He loves you with an everlasting love, and there is nothing you can do to stop him.
Do yourself a favor and read these words again: "In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us."
Even when you recognize that love is the essence of your relationship with Christ, don't forget he loved you first.
Jesus' love for you is what defines you on Valentine's Day. And every day.
Love is his name.
Loving Father, your love for me is better than chocolate--better than anything. Today I am secure. Grounded. Accepted. Loved. Fulfilled. Father.
