Do Everything in the Name

Do Everything in the Name

“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus.” Colossians 3:17

The Name is not static, but active. The Name is not something to consider, but to act on. When the Name gets into your spirit, everything you do will be done in the Name, even the things you say. The Name is the key to continually encountering the manifest Presence of Christ.

As you grow in Christ, the Name becomes a filter for your speech as well as your conduct. This does not mean that you are constantly using the Name in every sentence, but it does mean you are living it.

When the Apostle Paul exhorted the believers in Colassae to do everything in the Name, the next thing he does is to exhort wives how to treat their husbands, and husbands how treat their wives, how children should respond to parents, and how moms and dads should treat children. He told employees how to treat their boss, and how business owners should treat their workforce.

When the Name impacts your heart, it will impact your marriage, your family life, and your workplace. When the Name shapes your vocabulary, it will impact your whole life.

If this sounds impossible, you are underestimating the power of the Name. The Name doesn’t simply impact a few things you do, the Name impacts everything. The power of the Name is based on the power of the Presence.

Loving Father, stamp the Name on every area of my heart so that the Name impacts every area of my life.
