Fast Day 10
Fast Day 10 - January 20
“Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.” - Matthew 10:8
The words from Mathew 10:8 remind us of the generosity and kindness of our Heavenly Father. We have received so much from Him - forgiveness, love, salvation, and eternal life. Jesus freely gives to each of us so much.
As Jesus has freely given to us, so now we get to freely give to Him and to others. With the theme "FREELY GIVE", it is not just about our finances or resources; it’s about our time, our talents, and our love. It’s about being willing to serve others with a generous heart, the same way Jesus served us.
When we give freely, we reflect the character of God who so loved the world that He gave His one and only begotten Son (John 3:16). As we give, may our faith be strengthened, and may we experience the joy of giving.
As we fast and pray, let us ask God to reveal areas in our lives where we can give more freely. We need to hear clearly whether it’s time, talents, or resources. We can ask the Lord to soften our hearts and make us sensitive to the needs of others. Remember the words of Jesus," it’s more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35).
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for freely giving, as your love, mercy, and grace through Jesus Christ. As we fast and pray, help us to remember that everything we have is from you. Teach us to give freely, to serve with compassion, to love without condition, and to trust you completely. May this fast draw us closer to your heart and open our eyes to the needs around us. May our giving bring glory to your name and be a reflection of your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
