In The Spirit
by Fred Hartley, III on October 21st, 2021
The Holy Spirit loves to draw attention to Jesus. The Apostle John was a political prisoner of Rome on the island of Patmos when he was conspicuously re-filled with the Holy Spirit. Within moments he encountered the manifest presence of Christ in a way he had never encountered Him before.  Read More

On Mission
by Fred Hartley, III on October 20th, 2021
Every encounter with the manifest presence of Christ thrusts you more forcefully on mission with God. When the Apostle John was utterly ravaged by encountering the glorified, ascended, exalted Christ and was reduced to a heap of ashes in true, on-your-face worship, Jesus didn’t leave him there on the floor. He placed His hand on John’s shoulder, restored his dignity, and gave him his new assignment. Write, therefore, the things that you have seen.   Read More

Fear Not
by Fred Hartley, III on October 19th, 2021
Fear is often the natural response when you encounter the manifest presence of Christ because you are encountering the unknown. Even the Apostle John, who arguably knew Christ better than any person on earth, feared for his life when he encountered the ascended, exalted, and glorified Christ. Too often, our worship is too tame, predictable, and non-threatening. God wants your Christ-encountering worship to sometimes shake you to the core.  Read More

His Right Hand
by Fred Hartley, III on October 18th, 2021
Imagine feeling the hand of God on your shoulder, or on your forehead. Most of us will never experience that sensation, but the Apostle John did. You can know, however, the reality of what God’s hand transmitted to John.  Read More

Win Today
by Fred Hartley, III on October 16th, 2021
Every morning when you get out of bed, no matter what else you will face that day, your two most significant battles are these: 1) Will you praise the Lord? 2) Will you encounter the steadfast love of God? If you can win these two battles, you can win every other issue you face.  Read More

Promises
by Fred Hartley, III on October 15th, 2021
Every promise God gives to us in the Bible is a means by which He intends us to encounter His manifest presence and to actually become partakers of the divine nature. This verse identifies an entire category of scripture that are called promises. These promises are even identified as very great and precious. The more you believe them, trust in them, cash in on them, and use them to encounter God’s manifest presence and to become partakers of the divine nature, the more great and precious they will become to you.  Read More

Canada Fire
by Fred Hartley, III on October 13th, 2021
On this day, October 13, in the year of our Lord 1971, God wonderfully manifested His presence in Saskatchewan, Canada. Pastor Bill McLeod invited evangelists Ralph and Lou Sutera to speak at his church. An amazing spirit of conviction gripped the people that day, and many confessed sin publicly. Their numbers grew each night until they filled the capital Civic Auditorium, seating two thousand people. People did not want to leave. They prayed together, humbled themselves, confessed sin, and were miraculously converted. Almost half those who met Christ were young people. Sherwood Wirt, editor of Billy Graham’s Decision magazine, visited the phenomenal revival and said, “We’re walking knee deep in love up here.”   Read More

Lifter of My Head
by Fred Hartley, III on October 12th, 2021
It is in the act of being worshipped that God often chooses to reveal Himself. Take time today to declare the potency of God’s Name. King David centered his soul and his identity in Christ. He emphatically declares God’s great Name as Shield, Glory, and Lifter of my head.  Read More

My Shield
by Fred Hartley, III on October 11th, 2021
All true worship rises out of an encounter with Christ; it expresses itself in a profound appreciation of God’s Name. In these two verses from Psalm 18, King David declares no fewer than ten distinct names of God. Powerful!  Read More

Baptism With the Holy Spirit
by Fred Hartley, III on October 10th, 2021
On this day, October 10, in the year of our Lord 1821, Charles Finney encountered the manifest presence of Christ. He fell weeping at Jesus’ feet and cried out, “‘I receive the mighty baptism of the Holy Ghost’…without expecting it, without ever having thought in my mind there was any such thing for me, without any recollection that I had ever heard the thing mentioned by any person in the world, at a moment entirely unexpected to me, the Holy Spirit descended upon me in a manner that seemed to go through me body and soul.”  Read More

Students on Fire
by Fred Hartley, III on October 9th, 2021
Tomorrow marks a significant anniversary. On October 10, in the year of our Lord 1942, a revival broke out at the Missionary Training Institute in Nyack, New York. A.W. Tozer was the speaker. A holy hush settled over the students. Then groaning, weeping, holy laughter followed. All these manifestations of the Holy Spirit were spontaneous, authentic, and God-initiated. The young students in the meeting were marked for life.  Read More

My Light, My Salvation
by Fred Hartley, III on October 8th, 2021
King David often began his prayer by appropriately declaring the Name of God . He teaches us an important principle—the Name of God is given to us as a powerful weapon for us to use in prayer as we enter into God’s presence and advance His kingdom.  Read More

The Spirit of Adoption
by Fred Hartley, III on October 7th, 2021
When you pray, don’t waste your time praying from a spirit of rejection. The orphan spirit has no place in your prayer life. God the Holy Spirit has not given you a spirit of slavery so that you fall back into fear of rejection. Instead, He has given you a spirit of adoption as sons and daughters. If you are in Christ, you are loved as Christ; you are accepted as Christ; you are welcomed as Christ.   Read More

God is With You
by Fred Hartley, III on October 5th, 2021
On this day, October 5, in the Year of our Lord 1703, Jonathan Edwards was born to the Reverend and Mrs. Timothy Edwards. The young Jonathan quickly distinguished himself as a child prodigy, learning to read Latin by the age of six and writing remarkable treatises on insects, botany and science by the age of eleven. He earned his master’s degree at Yale in 1722, and would go on to be one of the greatest revivalists and Christian theologians in North America.  Read More

Love Bigger Than You Realize
by Fred Hartley, III on October 4th, 2021
If you lose contact with the love of God, your prayer life will shrivel up like a dead frog on an expressway. The fastest way to revive your prayer life is to begin your time of Christ-encountering prayer each day by receiving a fresh infilling of His overwhelming love for you.  Read More

Fearless Love
by Fred Hartley, III on October 3rd, 2021
Too many people have turned their prayer lives into an anxiety session. They pray themselves into a nervous frenzy. They are more upset and worried about life after they are finished praying than when they started. This is messed up. God has a better approach to prayer. Encounter the love of Christ first and allow His perfect love to grab your worries, fears, and anxieties by the throat and kick them out to the curb!  Read More

His Love
by Fred Hartley, III on October 2nd, 2021
If your prayer life has become dry and boring, I can almost guarantee why. Most likely, you have made your prayer time more about your love for Him than about His love for you. It’s time to reverse your focus.   Read More

He Loved First
by Fred Hartley, III on October 1st, 2021
Let’s not make prayer too complicated. The greatest commandment is love. God is love. What motivates all true prayer is love. Since we love because He first loved us, there is nothing more important for you to do everyday in prayer than to receive a fresh encounter with His love. For this reason, Jesus began His model prayer pattern, Our Father in heaven.  Read More

An Hour of Prayer
by Fred Hartley, III on September 30th, 2021
Christ invites you to frequently spend an hour with Him in prayer just as He invited His disciples. Why? Very simply, because He loves you and He wants to spend time with you. The reason the twelve disciples slept rather than pray was because they had not yet received the Holy Spirit. Once they received the promise of the Holy Spirit, they were not only able to pray an hour, they were able to pray ten days!  Read More

Rejoice Always
by Fred Hartley, III on September 28th, 2021
When you love Jesus, it is easy to rejoice always. Jesus is your life, your joy, your fulfillment, your hope, and your purpose in life. We need the reminder to rejoice always. When you love Jesus, you are happy for the reminder to rejoice always. It’s no wonder Paul said elsewhere, “Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say, rejoice” (Philippians 4:4).  Read More
