Branch

Branch

"There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit." Isaiah 11:1

Branch is a name that you need--it profoundly resonates with the genius of God.

Branch is translated from the Hebrew word, nasar, from which we get Nazareth.

Branch is God's name that reminds us that God operates within the larger flow of human history.

Branch points us back to God's plan for Israel, and his promise to Jesse and Jesse's son, David.

Branch is a reminder that Jesus was rejected and crucified--cut down and thrown away.

Branch is a strong affirmation of the resurrection--that what was cut down is now growing back.

Branch points to the ascension--the confidence that lush harvest and fruit will come from the one seated, enthroned, anointed, and majestic.

Branch is not something to wave; he is someone to be worshipped.

Lord Jesus, you are Branch--high and exalted, rooted in history, fulfillment of promises, incarnate, rejected, crucified, raised, ascended, and coming to gather the great harvest.
