Sun and Shield
Sun and Shield
"The LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly." Psalm 84:11
Psalm 84:11 is a mighty promise based on an Almighty name.
When God promises, No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly, it's based on the name of God--Sun and Shield.
To call God, Sun, means that he shines on you and gives you his favor--everything you need to thrive.
To call God, Shield, means that he protects you from your enemies and from anything anyone can shoot at you.
Sun, because God gives you everything you need to live and prosper. Shield, because God keeps everything from you that would threaten or harm you.
Today take Christ as both your Sun and Shield.
Yes, Lord Jesus, I take you now as my Sun and Shield. You alone give me all I need to live and thrive, and all I need to keep me from evil and the evil one.
