Merciful God

Merciful God

"For the LORD your God is a merciful God." Deuteronomy 4:31

God's mercy makes him approachable.

When you consider God's holiness, his utter perfection, he can at times seem unapproachable. We feel like we can never measure up, and in a sense we cannot. The Bible accurately describes our condition: "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23. And again, “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one" Romans 3:10-12.

For this reason, God's mercy saves the day. His mercy doesn't negate his righteousness; on the contrary, God's mercy fulfills God's righteousness.

It is God's mercy that sent Christ, in order to fulfill all righteousness, and at the same time make atonement for our unrighteousness, and simultaneously make a way for God's righteousness to live in us.

The cross is the place where God's mercy and righteousness connect.

Everyday Merciful God is a catalyst for your praise.

Merciful God, Merciful Father, I praise you for expressing your love and mercy toward me in Christ.
