In The Beginning, God

In The Beginning, God

“In the beginning, God created  the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1

The name God, or Elohim in Hebrew, is used 2600 times in the Old Testament alone and for a good reason.

When you begin to discover the magnificence of the name of God, resist the temptation to focus only on the obscure facets of his name, or you'll miss the obvious.

God or Elohim is one of the most frequently used names in the Bible. Elohim is actually the plural form of El, known as the plural of majesty. The plural of greatness, magnificence, majesty, glory, and deity.

While the name God is literally and technically plural, there is absolutely no room for misunderstanding that God is the One and Only.  "The LORD our God, the LORD is one." Deuteronomy 6:4

God never unintentionally uses his name. All 2600 times that the Bible uses the name God, we can be assured that he had a distinct purpose every single time.

Whenever you read it, see it, or hear it, you want to mark it. Receive it. Honor it. Worship it. Take hold of it. Pray it.

Whatever you do, don't miss it, skip it, or skate past it.

God is not a generic term for an impersonal force; it's the name of your Creator who wants a personal love relationship with you.

Father God, teach me to hallow your name. Whenever I see it, read it, or hear it, please teach me to recognize, mark, honor, worship, and pray your name. I make this prayer in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
