Holy Trembling
Holy Trembling
"Let them praise your great and awesome name!" Psalm 99:3
God's name may be the only thing in life that is truly awesome. Only God's name moves you to holy trembling.
Awesome may be the most overused word in the English language. We casually use the word awesome to describe just about anything--a pizza, a haircut, or a new pair of jeans.
Awesome literally means to cause fear, terror, or holy trembling; to be filled with awe. Not exactly an appropriate word to describe pizza.
On the other hand, awesome is a perfect word to describe God, and God's name.
When was the last time God's name stopped you in your tracks and moved you to holy trembling?
Father, your name is holy. Awe-filling. Soul-stretching. Praise-worthy. Worship-inducing. Life-changing. Your name moves to holy trembling.
