Giving His Dues

Giving His Dues

"Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name." Psalm 29:2

There are three reasons to praise the name of God.
     He demands it.
     He deserves it.
     We benefit from it.

When God says, ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name, he is focusing on the second reason- because God's name deserves it.

It's not until you realize just how much God's name deserves to be praised--how much praise is due his name--that you will appropriately praise him.

Yes, when you recognize that God demands praise, you will certainly want to give him praise. And when you realize how much praising God benefits you, you will give him more praise. But you will experience a significant breakthrough in your worship when you recognize just how much praise is due his name.

In reality, ALL praise is due his name.

Loving Father, I know you demand praise, and I am glad to give you praise. I know how healthy it is for me to praise your name, and so I praise you. And today I realize just how much your name deserves my praise. Continue to reveal to me the full extent of the praise that is due your name.
