This Once
"This once I will make them know my power and my might, and they shall know that my name is the LORD.” Jeremiah 16:21
God is self-revealing--if you want to see him, he must show himself to you. If you want to know him, he must make himself known. If you want to hear him, he must speak.
Jeremiah lived in a day when few people knew God's name. And fewer people were seeking God's name. But they had one major advantage: God is gracious and self-revealing.
God promised, this once I will make them know my power and my might, and they shall know that my name is the LORD.
Your God is a this once God.
This once means that God is playful, spontaneous, and creative.
This once means that God is gracious and merciful--he's a God of the second chance.
This once means that God IS willing to do just about anything to reveal himself to just about anyone.
Are you ready for your this once?
Father God, God of the second chance, just this once would you make your name be made known to me today? Just this once in Jesus’ name.
