Jealous For My Name
Jealous For My Name
"I will be jealous for my holy name." Ezekiel 39:25
Jealousy is a sin for everyone--that is, everyone but God.
In fact, it would be a sin, so to speak, for God to not be jealous.
Jealousy is the desire to be first and foremost in someone else's heart. While that is entirely inappropriate for us as people, it is entirely appropriate for God to want to be first and foremost. We were made for God to be first and foremost. We only operate properly when God is first and foremost.
When God desires to be first and foremost in your life, it's because he wants you to function properly. He wants you to be fulfilled.
For this reason, God is jealous for his name.
When you become jealous for God's name, you become one with God's purposes. You can now pray with greater authority because what you want is exactly the same as what God wants.
Father God, I repent of jealousy for my name. Replace my twisted jealousy with jealousy for your name that I might pray in alignment with your will and purpose.
