Your Great Name
Your Great Name
"They shall hear of your great name and your mighty hand, and of your outstretched arm." 1 Kings 8:42
When God's people take hold of God's name, great things happen. But when God's name takes hold of God's people, extraordinary things happen.
When Solomon dedicated the temple, he dedicated it to the name. He knew that God's people would exalt God's name at the temple. But toward the end of his prayer, something shifts. He talks about the foreigner and the unbelievers who will also learn of God's great name when they see God dramatically answer specific prayers in the name--when they see God's mighty hand and his outstretched arm.
This is the principle: when believers start to properly use the name, unbelievers will start to recognize the name. When God's name takes hold of believers, God's name will also begin to take hold of unbelievers. Unbelievers will not recognize God's name until God's people recognize God's name.
God has revealed his name to you, so that he can reveal his name through you to unbelievers around you. How can you expect unbelievers to recognize God's great name until you recognize just how great his name is?
Has God's name taken hold of you?
Loving Father, today your great name has overtaken me. Stamp your great name on every area of my life so that when people see me they will recognize you.
