His Name, His Blessing

His Name, His Blessing

"David...blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts." 2 Samuel 6:18

God wants to teach you how to effectively bless people just as he wants to teach you to effectively pray.

David knew how to effectively pray and he knew how to effectively bless. He blessed his people in the name of the Lord.

When you want to speak a blessing over someone, speak it in the name of Jesus.

Keep in mind, praying a blessing is different than speaking a blessing. When you pray a blessing, you're asking God to do the blessing. When you speak a blessing, you are doing it, and it is best to do it in the name of the Lord.

It will have power when you do it, and it will have even more power when you do it in the name of the Lord.

I challenge you today. Select someone to whom you would like to speak a blessing. Your spouse. Child. Parent. Friend. Think of some specific things about that person you admire and want to bless. Write out a few sentences of blessing. Keep it simple. Be yourself.

You can do it over the phone or in person. Just do it. Do it in the name of the Lord and do it today.

Loving Father, show me now whom I can bless today. And help me write out a brief blessing I can speak to them in the name of the Lord.
