A Moment That Lasts a Lifetime
A Moment That Lasts a Lifetime
"The LORD descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD." Exodus 34:5
Even when you dramatically encounter the tangible presence of Christ, you still need a name of God. God's name defines the encounter.
There are few people who have more dramatically encountered God than Moses. Just think of it--the burning bush, the miracle plagues, the miracle manna, miracle quail, miracle water from the rock, the miracle parting of the Red Sea and the drowning of the entire Egyptian army. And now the glory cloud of God's presence. You would think this encounter would be enough.
Yet from the glory cloud of his manifesting presence, God proceeded to proclaim his name to Moses.
When you encounter the glory of God's manifest presence, he still wants to bless you with a specific name.
God's name gives you a reference point. A definition. A memory. A handle to grab and not let go, so you can carry that memory into your future. Experiences come and go, but God's name will last you forever.
When God gives you a name, he makes the momentary encounter last a lifetime.
Loving Father, I love your name. Today, as I encounter you, declare your name over me that this moment may last a lifetime.
