When God Proclaims His Name

When God Proclaims His Name

“I will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name, The LORD." Exodus 33:19

God is a self-revealing God. He must proclaim his name to you before you proclaim his name to him.

When Moses felt the weight of responsibility for leading God's people through the wilderness and into the promised land, he desperately sought God's face. Moses knew he was in over his head--he needed God's manifest presence. At this historic moment, God responded to Moses by proclaiming his own divine name to his servant.

Moses pleaded for God's presence, and God gave him his name. Encountering the name is encountering the presence. Carrying the name is carrying the presence. Declaring the name is announcing the presence.

When God proclaims his name to you, give him your undivided attention. He is giving you his presence.

Lord Jesus Christ, like Moses I long for your presence--your manifest presence. Declare your name over me that I might carry your presence today.
