The Christ
"For to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:11
Christ is not Jesus' last name.
Christ is a familiar name, though perhaps the most misunderstood name of God.
Christ is the Greek word for the Hebrew word Mashea, or Messiah, which means "anointed and anointing one."
When the angels declared to the shepherds that Jesus is the Christ, they designated Jesus as the promised Messiah, the one who is anointed by the Holy Spirit, as well as the one who anoints others in the Holy Spirit.
Jesus carries the name Christ because he carries the Holy Spirit.
Today God is revealing to you the Christ, the one who carries the Holy Spirit, and the one who is prepared to anoint and baptize you in the Holy Spirit.
As you encounter Christ today, you will receive your anointing.
Jesus, today I take you as the Christ. You are Messiah. I receive from you the fullness of anointing you have for me now.
