The Name Given

The Name Given

"At the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb." Luke 2:21

God is jealous for his name. Protective. He doesn't leave his name up to your imagination. He is very particular, and for good reason.

Father God sent an angel to Joseph to make sure the name on the certificate of circumcision would be Jesus. He also sent the angel to Mary with the same instruction just to make double sure. When the time came for the name to be formalized, both parents were in full agreement--call him JESUS.

Just as Joseph and Mary received, validated and affirmed the name given, so God extends to you the name given--the name Jesus. Now it's your turn.

Don't change it, challenge it, or replace the name Jesus. Jesus is the name given. He wants you to receive it, validate it, and affirm it.

You can't improve on it. You can't add to it or embellish it.

Jesus. Only Jesus. All of Jesus.

Just call him Jesus.

Jesus. Lord Jesus. Jesus the Christ, the Son of the Living God. My Jesus. Eternal Jesus. Supreme Jesus. All sufficient Jesus. I exalt you today.
