True Vine
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser." John 15:1
True Vine is appropriately the final self-disclosing I AM statement from Jesus.
While other I AM statements refer to the life-giving impact of Jesus, True Vine emphasizes the life-sustaining impact of Jesus.
Bread of Life, Living Water, Resurrection, Life each connect us to the life-giving Jesus. True Vine distinctly connects you to the life-sustaining Jesus.
I AM is the emphatic I AND I ONLY am the life-sustainer. I AND NO ONE BUT ME.
It is all too easy to run to Jesus for the quick fix, the bail out, the resurrection, the turnaround, but then fail to take him as the sustainer, the ongoing companion, and life-source through thick and thin for the long haul.
If your life with Jesus has run hot and cold, up and down, on again off again, Jesus wants you to encounter him today as the True Vine--the one who will continually give you life, the same way the grape branches draw life from the vine.
Yes, Lord Jesus, I take you today as the True Vine. I am grafted into you so that moment by moment, day by day, I can receive new life, replenishment, revival into my spirit, soul and body. Fill me now. I receive in Jesus name.
