Knowing But Not Knowing
Knowing But Not Knowing
“What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.” Mark 5:7
It is entirely possible to know the name and identity of Jesus, and yet never experience the power of the name. How tragic.
The tormented man who lived in the tombs and cut himself among the Geresenes has been called the most demonized person who ever lived. Yet he knew the name and identity of Jesus better even than the disciples at this time.
How is this possible?
Yes, he knew of the name of Jesus, but he never obeyed the name. He never worshipped the name, and he never encountered the name. At least not until today!
Ironically, while this confused man knew Jesus' name, Jesus had to ask for the man's name, or at least the name of the chief demon operating within the guy.
The point is this: the name of Jesus does you no good until you obey it. God's name is intended to lead you to an encounter with God, and that encounter will revolutionize everything.
Don't you dare settle for simply an intellectual understanding of God's name. Let his name get under your skin. Let his name affect your mind, your will, and your emotions. Let his name change your reputation, your lifestyle, your desires, and your dreams. Let his name take dominion over your life. Let his name clean you out and set you free.
Lord Jesus, today I embrace your name. May your name take dominion over my soul now.
