Hated Of The Name

Hated Of The Name

"You will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved."
Matthew 10:22

What about you--have you ever been hated because of your association with the name? Or is the name Jesus so dominant in your life that those who hate Christ will recognize enough of him in your life that they will feel hatred toward you?

You and I love the name. But there are a lot of people who hate the name, and if you live your life under the influence of the name, sooner or later those who hate the name will also hate you.

Maybe the underlying question is, what's of greater value to you, your love for Jesus' name, or your love for your own reputation? If your name means more to you than Jesus' name, you'll never need to worry about being hated.

But if you prefer God's name over your own, and you genuinely want his name to be exalted in your life, this is a call for endurance. The one who endures to the end will be saved.

To lose your reputation because of your association with Jesus' name, what an honor. What dignity. What nobility!

Lord Jesus, today I choose to exalt your name over my name. I want your name to be so dominant in my life, my conversation, my home, my workplace, my community, that those who love your name will love my name, and those who hate your name will hate my name. Hallowed be your name.
