Baptize In The Name
Baptize In The Name
"Make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Matthew 28:19
Jesus made sure that your disciple making has two marks of authenticity--both the mark of the outward step of obedience in water baptism, and also the inner mark of the name.
Hopefully you honor the importance of water baptism, but don't underestimate the significance of the name in baptism--the full name of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
There is no power simply in the baptismal water itself; the life transforming power is in the name.
God wants the full force of his name behind every step of obedience. Baptism is the first step of obedience that indicates a commitment to all future steps of obedience.
Your step into the waters of baptism is your first step of obedience, and it is stamped with the full force and authority of the name of the Triune God. And God wants you to know that every future step of obedience is also marked by the full force and authority of the name.
When you step into the waters of baptism, make sure you take hold of the power of the name.
Father God, today I take the name--the full force and authority of the name in every step of obedience.
