Work in the Name

Work in the Name

“The works that I do in my Father’s Name bear witness about me.” John 10:25

Nothing tears down the artificial wall of separation between the secular and the sacred faster than when we work in the Name.

When we read that Jesus did his work in the Name, it is not surprising; anyone would expect Jesus to work in the Name.

It may not be as obvious that Jesus came in order to redeem your day job so you, too, can work in the Name.

To work in the Name is to understand that ultimately Jesus is your boss, the authority in your workplace, the one who signs your checks, and gives you your evaluation.

When you are in Christ, regardless of whether you work for Coca-Cola, Apple, AT&T, or Tesla, God wants you to know that as a Name-carrier, your work is sacred when you work for the Name.

Take a moment right now and declare your work place to be hallowed ground-- that you work for the Name. Inscribe the Name on the front of the building where you work every day, the website you log onto, and the signature on your paystub. This is not fictional, when you are in Christ this is accurate.

When you are in Christ, you work for the Name just like Jesus.

Loving Father, in your Name I see my day job as sacred and my work is holy to the Lord.
